9 - William Henry Harrison

William Henry Harrison was born on February 9, 1773, at Berkeley Plantation in Charles City, Virginia.  I have visited Harrison's birthplace twice, in 1981 and 2014:

After marrying in 1795, the Harrisons moved into a home at Fort Washington.  The land where the fort used to exist is now the city of Cincinnati, Ohio.

In 1797, the Harrisons built a home in North Bend, Ohio.  This home no longer exists - it was destroyed by fire in 1858.  There is a historical marker noting the former location of Harrison's home (the obverse notes that it was also the birthplace of his grandson and 23rd president, Benjamin Harrison).  I have not yet visited this site.

From 1800 to 1812, Harrison served as governor of the Indiana territory.  He built and lived in Grouseland, in Vincennes, Indiana.  I have not yet visited this site.

In 1841, Harrison was inaugurated as president on March 4, became ill, and died in the White House on April 4.  He was buried in North Bend, Ohio.  I visited this Harrison's Tomb in 1975:
